Dr. Maricarmen Martínez is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Humanities. She has a vast experience in teaching at international and national higher educations institutions. Much of her research explores the relationship between Film, Philosophy and Literature. She also researches theories of interdisciplinarity and designed the interdisciplinary model that guides the Program in Interdisciplinary Humanities (PIH). She has published in international academic journals and is a member of the editorial Board of the International Journal of Humanistic Studies. Dr. Martinez and Dr. David Johnson reconceptualized the Program in Interdisciplinary Humanities (PIH) vision and curriculum. Martinez founded PIH's graduate journal and graduate conference. She is also responsible for the success of the Multicultural Film Course, one of the most popular courses in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Martinez won the Mentor of the Year Award and has been constantly nominated for teaching and leadership awards. Dr. Martinez describes herself as a public intellectual who sees the potential of interdisciplinary research and teaching for the transformation of the individual and the civil society. She created the motto of PIH: sapere.sentire.agere,aude. (Dare to know, to feel and to act)

Dr. Kathryn B. Stoddard received her Ph. D. in Classics from the University of Virginia in 2000. She specializes in Archaic Greek poetry, especially the works of Hesiod and Homer. She has published articles on Hesiod, Solon, and Lucretius, and is interested in Greek Tragedy. Her recent book is entitled "The Narrative Voice in the Theogony of Hesiod."
